Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT MICROBLADING

What do I need to know before my appointment.

Who is a candidate for microblading?

Those  who have hair loss (or no hair) in the brow area, those that have nice brows but wish for a more polished look, or those who just want to wake up and go without the hassle of makeup or “drawing on” the brows.

Who is NOT a good candidate for microblading?

  • Current smoker or recent history of smoking

  • Eczema or Psoriasis (in the eyebrow area)

  • Sunburn/Suntan (in brow area - must wait until skin returns to normal color)

  • On Blood Thinners

  • Hemophilia

  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding (unless cleared by doctor)

  • Certain skin types are NOT good candidates for microblading. If you have severe sun damage, bleed easily, have paper thin skin or excessive freckling, you may not have ideal results with microblading.

Will I still need to apply makeup on my brows?

This depends on your personal preference. You may want to add makeup to your microbladed brows as they start to fade over time but before you get an annual color boost.

How long does the appointment take?

The initial appointment lasts approximately 90 minutes. Whereas the 6 week touch up is 75 minutes.

How long do results last?

No guarantee can be made as to how long eyebrow tattoo results will last.

The pigment used in 3D brow microblading is semi-permanent and can last 12 months. The pigment will begin to fade around 10-12 months, so maintenance appointments (referred to as touch-up or color boost) are recommended. If you choose not to get a color boost, the pigment will fade naturally over time.

Factors that will cause your microbladed brows to fade faster:

  • Smoking

  • Age

  • Skin type

  • Anti-aging skincare products on the brows

  • Sun exposure

  • Exfoliants

Does it hurt?

Most clients consider the procedure to be virtually pain free. Your eyebrow area will be numbed before the procedure and the artist will make sure you are as comfortable as possible during the entire appointment. However, take note that you may experience greater pain right before or during your menstrual cycle, so avoid scheduling near that time.

Is there any downtime?

No. You can resume your day as normal.

Are there any safety issues that I should be concerned about?

All of our procedures performed at Studio C Ink adhere to strict OSHA standards for Blood Born Pathogens and we maintain our OSHA certification by taking an annual exam. All needles and materials, which touch the skin, are sterile and disposable. All necessary precautions are taken to ensure a sterile and hygienic environment. Strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines are followed in accordance with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). We use single use sterile needles with each application. Pigments are all made from approved compounds, and most are mixed specifically for permanent cosmetic use. When proper sterilization and sanitation guidelines are followed, Permanent Cosmetics are completely safe. Permanent Cosmetics and tattoos are completely safe as long as you go to a reputable artist who is following all recommended safety precautions; however, it is important to remember that tattoos are not risk-free. The health risks associated with tattooing are small if appropriate disinfection and sterilization techniques are used.
